To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Veterans
Affairs to pay costs relating to the transportation of certain deceased
veterans to certain State and tribal veterans’ cemeteries, and for other
purposes.

the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee
on Veterans’ Affairs
A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the
Secretary of Veterans Affairs to pay costs relating to
the transportation of certain deceased veterans to certain
State and tribal veterans’ cemeteries, and for other pur-
poses.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Unclaimed Veterans
4
Burial Benefit Correction Act of 2020’’.

SEC. 2. TRANSPORTATION OF DECEASED VETERANS TO

CERTAIN VETERANS’ CEMETERIES.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 2308(a) of title 38,
3
United States Code, is amended—
4
(1) in the first sentence, by striking ‘‘in a na-
5
tional cemetery’’ and inserting ‘‘in a covered ceme-
6
tery’’; and
7
(2) in the second sentence, by striking ‘‘to the
8
national cemetery’’ and inserting ‘‘to the covered
9
cemetery’’.

(b) COVERED CEMETERY DEFINED.—Section 2308
11
of such title is amended by adding at the end the following
12
new subsection:

‘‘(c) COVERED CEMETERY DEFINED.—In this sec-
14
tion, the term ‘covered cemetery’ has the meaning given
15
such term in section 2306(f)(2) of this title.’’.

(c) CONFORMING AMENDMENT.—Section 2308 of
17
such title is amended in the section heading by adding
18
at the end the following: ‘‘or a veterans’ cemetery’’.
19
(d) CLERICAL AMENDMENT.—The table of sections
20
at the beginning of chapter 23 of such title is amended
21
by striking the item relating to section 2308 and inserting
22
the following new item:
23
‘‘2308. Transportation of deceased veteran to a national cemetery or a veterans’
cemetery.’’.
