To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to deem certain State
Veterans homes meeting certain health and safety standards as meeting
conditions and requirements for skilled nursing facilities under the Medi-
care and Medicaid programs.

was read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance
A BILL
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to deem
certain State Veterans homes meeting certain health and
safety standards as meeting conditions and requirements
for skilled nursing facilities under the Medicare and Med-
icaid programs.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘State Veterans Home
4
Inspection Simplification Act’’.

SEC. 2. DEEMING CERTAIN STATE VETERANS HOMES AS

MEETING MEDICARE SKILLED NURSING FA-
2
CILITIES CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS.

Section 1865(a) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
4
1395bb(a)) is amended—
5
(1) in paragraph (1), by inserting ‘‘, subject to
6
paragraph (5),’’ after ‘‘If the Secretary’’; and
7
(2) by adding at the end the following new sub-
8
section:
9
‘‘(5) In the case of a provider entity described in
10
paragraph (3)(B) that the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
11
inspects as a State home under section 1742 of title 38,
12
United States Code, and determines meets such standards
13
as the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall prescribe pursu-
14
ant to such section, the Secretary of Health and Human
15
Services shall—
16
‘‘(A) treat such provider entity as meeting all
17
conditions and requirements under sections 1819
18
and 1861(j) for the period for which such deter-
19
mination is in effect; and
20
‘‘(B) for purposes of subsection (g)(5)(E) of
21
section 1819 and other related purposes for posting
22
information on the Nursing Home Compare website
23
under subsection (i) of such section, in lieu of the
24
information described in the first sentence of such
25
subsection (g)(5)(E), use the information described
