DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PROVISION OF VETERI- 1 NARY CARE FOR RETIRED MILITARY WORK- 2 ING DOGS. 3 (a) IN GENERAL.—Section 994 of title 10, United 4 States Code, is amended— 5 (1) in subsection (a); 6 (A) by striking ‘‘establish and maintain a 7 system to’’; 8 (B) by striking ‘‘for the veterinary care of’’ 9 and inserting ‘‘veterinary care for’’; and 10 (C) by striking the second sentence; 11 (2) in subsection (b), by inserting ‘‘that the 12 Secretary of the military department concerned de- 13 termines is suitable for adoption or is’’ before 14 ‘‘adopted’’; and 15 (3) in subsection (c), by striking ‘‘the system 16 authorized by’’. 17 (b) MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENTS WITH OTHER ENTI- 18 TIES.—Such section is further amended by adding at the 19 end the following new subsection: 20 ‘‘(d) ACCEPTANCE AND USE OF DONATED FUNDS.— 21 (1) The Secretary of Defense may accept donations of 22 funds, gifts, and in-kind contributions for the purpose of 23 providing long-term care for any military working dog 24 adopted under section 2583 of this title. Any amount so 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 05:51 Jul 08, 2020 Jkt 099200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S4092.IS S4092 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •S 4092 IS accepted shall be available without further appropriation 1 and without fiscal year limitation. 2 ‘‘(2) The Secretary of Defense may enter into a 3 multi-year agreement with a veterans service organization 4 or appropriate nonprofit entity under which— 5 ‘‘(A) the organization or entity may solicit and 6 accept donations of funds on behalf of the Depart- 7 ment of Defense pursuant to paragraph (1); and 8 ‘‘(B) the organization or entity agrees to trans- 9 fer any funds accepted pursuant to such an agree- 10 ment to the Department of Defense. 11 ‘‘(3) In this subsection, the term ‘veterans service or- 12 ganization’ means an organization recognized by the Sec- 13 retary of Veterans Affairs for the representation of vet- 14 erans under section 5902 of title 38.’’. 15 SEC. 3.
