EXTENSION OF AUTHORIZED STAY FOR CERTAIN 1 ALIEN HEALTH CARE WORKERS DURING 2 COVID–19 EMERGENCY PERIOD. 3 (a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary of Homeland Secu- 4 rity shall extend the period of authorized stay for a cov- 5 ered alien healthcare worker until a date that is not earlier 6 than the date that is 60 days after the end of the emer- 7 gency period described in subparagraph (B) of section 8 1135(g)(1) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1320b– 9 5(g)(1)). 10 (b) COVERED ALIEN HEALTHCARE WORKER.—The 11 term ‘‘covered alien healthcare worker’’ means an alien— 12 (1) who was admitted to the United States 13 under section 101(a)(15)(H)(i)(b) to perform serv- 14 ices as a health care worker; 15 (2) who was serving in such capacity in the 16 United States for any period of time during the 17 emergency period described in subsection (a); and 18 (3) whose employment or work contract de- 19 scribed in paragraph (2) was terminated during such 20 period, except in the case that such employment or 21 contract was terminated for cause. 22 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 23:48 May 14, 2020 Jkt 099200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H6717.IH H6717 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS
