A BILL
To provide for the availability of menstrual hygiene products
for homeless individuals under the Federal Emergency
Management Agency emergency food and shelter grant
program, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ββ Menstrual Equity For

SEC. 2. MENSTRUAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS AVAILABILITY

FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS UNDER EMER-

GENCY FOOD AND SHELTER GRANT PRO-

GRAM.

Subsection (a) of section 316 of the McKinney-Vento
5
Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 11346(a)) is amend-
6
edβ
7
(1) in paragraph (5), by striking ββandββ at the
8
end;
9
(2) in paragraph (6), by striking the period at
10
the end and inserting ββ; andββ; and
11
(3) by adding at the end the following new
12
paragraph:
13
ββ(7) guidelines that ensure that amounts pro-
14
vided under the program to private nonprofit organi-
15
zations and local governments may be used to pro-
16
vide sanitary napkins and tampons, except that all
17
items provided shall conform to applicable industry
18
standards.ββ.
