Fair Coronavirus Credit Reporting Act of 2020

PROHIBITION ON REPORTING MEDICALLY NEC- 1 ESSARY PROCEDURES RELATED TO THE 2 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID–19) 3 OUTBREAK. 4 (a) IN GENERAL.—Section 605(a) of the Fair Credit 5 Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. 1681c(a)) is amended by adding 6 at the end the following new paragraph: 7 ‘‘(9) Any information related to a debt arising 8 from a medically necessary procedure related to the 9 novel coronavirus disease (COVID–19) outbreak.’’. 10 (b) MEDICALLY NECESSARY PROCEDURE DE- 11 FINED.—Section 603 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 12 U.S.C. 1681a) is amended by adding at the end the fol- 13 lowing: 14 ‘‘(bb) MEDICALLY NECESSARY PROCEDURE.—The 15 term ‘medically necessary procedure’ means health care 16 services needed to prevent, diagnose, or treat COVID–19 17 or its symptoms and that meet accepted standards of med- 18 icine.’’. 19 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 21:39 Apr 14, 2020 Jkt 099200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H6451.IH H6451 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with BILLS
