or subsistence allowances to eligible persons when educational institutions
are closed.

Mr. DUNN introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee
on Veterans’ Affairs
A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to extend the author-
ity of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to continue to
pay educational assistance or subsistence allowances to
eligible persons when educational institutions are closed.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

Section 3680(a)(2) of title 38, United States Code,
7
is amended—
8
(1) in the matter preceding subparagraph (A),
9
by striking the em dash at the end and inserting
10
‘‘during the following periods:’’;
11
(2) in subparagraph (A)—
12
(A) by striking ‘‘during periods’’ and in-
13
serting ‘‘Periods’’; and
14
(B) by striking ‘‘not exceed 4 weeks; or’’
15
and inserting ‘‘only continue until the date that
16
is eight weeks after the date of the temporary
17
closure.’’; and
18
(3) in subparagraph (B), in the matter pre-
19
ceding clause (i)—
20
(A) by striking ‘‘solely’’ and inserting
21
‘‘Solely’’; and
22
(B) by striking ‘‘during periods’’ and in-
23
serting ‘‘periods’’.
