A BILL
To authorize the establishment of a program of voluntary
separation incentive payments for nonjudicial employees
of the District of Columbia courts and employees of
the District of Columbia Public Defender Service.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘District of Columbia
4
Courts and Public Defender Service Voluntary Separation
5
Incentive Payments Act’’.

SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION FOR PROGRAM OF VOLUNTARY

SEPARATION INCENTIVE PAYMENTS FOR DIS-

TRICT OF COLUMBIA COURTS.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Chapter 17 of title 11, District
4
of Columbia Official Code, is amended by inserting after
5
section 11–1726 the following new section:
6
‘‘§ 11–1726A. Voluntary separation incentive pay-
7
ments
8
‘‘The Joint Committee on Judicial Administration
9
may, by regulation, establish a program substantially simi-
10
lar to the program established under subchapter II of
11
chapter 35 of title 5, United States Code, for nonjudicial
12
employees of the District of Columbia courts, except that
13
the maximum amount of the payment made under the pro-
14
gram to any individual may not exceed the amount re-
15
ferred to in section 3523(b)(3)(B) of title 5, United States
16
Code.’’.

(b) CLERICAL AMENDMENT.—The table of contents
18
of chapter 17 of title 11, District of Columbia Official
19
Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to
20
section 11–1726 the following new item:

‘‘11–1726A. Voluntary separation incentive payments.’’.

SERVICE.

Section 305 of the District of Columbia Court Re-
5
form and Criminal Procedure Act of 1970 (sec. 2–1605,
6
D.C. Official Code) is amended by adding at the end the
7
following new subsection:

‘‘(d) The Director may establish a program substan-
9
tially similar to the program established under subchapter
10
II of chapter 35 of title 5, United States Code, for employ-
11
ees of the Service, except that the maximum amount of
12
the payment made under the program to any individual
13
may not exceed the amount referred to in section
14
3523(b)(3)(B) of title 5, United States Code.’’.
