To reauthorize comprehensive research and statistical review
and analysis of trafficking in persons and commercial
sex acts, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ββHuman Trafficking

Research Act of 2020ββ.

Section 201(a)(1)(B) of the Trafficking Victims Pro-
5
tection Reauthorization Act of 2005 (34 U.S.C.
6
20701(a)(1)(B)) is amended to read as follows:

ββ(B) CONTENTS.βThe research and sta-
8
tistical review and analysis under this para-
9
graph shall consist of two separate studies, uti-
10
lizing the same statistical data where appro-
11
priate, as follows:

ββ(i) The first study shall address se-
13
vere forms of trafficking in persons in the
14
United States and shall include, but need
15
not be limited toβ
16
ββ(I) the estimated number and
17
demographic characteristics of victims
18
of severe forms of trafficking in per-
19
sons;
20
ββ(II) the estimated number and
21
demographic characteristics of per-
22
petrators of severe forms of traf-
23
ficking; and
24
ββ(III) the number of investiga-
25
tions, arrests, prosecutions, and incar-

tions, arrests, prosecutions, and incar-

cerations of persons engaged in sex

trafficking and unlawful commercial

sex acts, including purchasers of com-

mercial sex acts, by States and their

Section 201(c)(1) of the Trafficking Victims Protec-

tion Reauthorization Act of 2005 (34 U.S.C. 20701(c)(1))

is amended by striking ββ2008 through 2011ββ each place
8
it appears and inserting ββ2021 through 2024ββ.
