To reauthorize the matching grant program for school secu-
rity in the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets
Act of 1968.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘School Safety Act of
4
2020’’.

SEC. 2. MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL SECU-

RITY.

Part AA of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and
3
Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3797a et seq.) is
4
amended—
5
(1) in section 2701—
6
(A) in subsection (a), by striking ‘‘and
7
other deterrent measures’’ and inserting ‘‘,
8
other deterrent measures, and emergency notifi-
9
cation and response technologies’’; and
10
(B) in subsection (b)—
11
(i) by redesignating paragraph (5) as
12
paragraph (6); and
13
(ii) by inserting after paragraph (4)
14
the following:
15
‘‘(5) Acquisition and installation of technology
16
for expedited notification of local law enforcement
17
during an emergency.’’; and
18
(2) in section 2705, by striking ‘‘fiscal years
19
2001 through 2009’’ and inserting ‘‘fiscal years
20
2020 through 2024’’.
