A BILL
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide
for an extension of funding for technical assistance to
small practices and practices in health professional short-
age areas under the Merit-based Incentive Payment Sys-
tem (MIPS).
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Technical Assistance
4
for Small and Underserved Providers to Prevent Over-
5
sights and Refocus on Treatment Act’’ or the ‘‘TA SUP-
6
PORT Act’’.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 1848(q)(11)(B) of the So-
5
cial Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395w–4(q)(11)(B)) is
6
amended by striking ‘‘through 2020’’ and inserting
7
‘‘through 2025’’.

(b) STUDY AND REPORT.—
9
(1) STUDY.—The Secretary of Health and
10
Human Services (in this subsection referred to as
11
the ‘‘Secretary’’) shall conduct a study on the im-
12
pact of the technical assistance funded under para-
13
graph (11) of section 1848(q) of the Social Security
14
Act (42 U.S.C. 1395w–4(q)). Such study shall in-
15
clude an analysis of—
16
(A) the practices that have received tech-
17
nical assistance through such funding; and
18
(B) the progress that professionals in such
19
practices have made to improve within the
20
Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS)
21
under such section 1848(q); and
22
(C) the progress that professionals in such
23
practices have made to transition to the imple-
24
mentation of and participation in an alternative
25
payment
model
as
described
in
section

(2) REPORT.—Not later than 180 days after

the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary
4
shall submit to Congress a report on the study con-
5
ducted under paragraph (1), together with rec-
6
ommendations for such legislation and administra-
7
tive action as the Secretary determines appropriate.
