Ms. MURKOWSKI (for herself and Mr. SULLIVAN) introduced the following bill;
which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Armed Services
A BILL
To provide for a regional center for security studies for
the Arctic in the Department of Defense, and for other
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. TED STEVENS ARCTIC CENTER FOR SECURITY

STUDIES.

(a) ESTABLISHMENT REQUIRED.—
5
(1) IN
GENERAL.—The Secretary of Defense
6
shall establish and administer for purposes of sec-
7
tion 184 of title 10, United States Code, and other
8
applicable provisions of law, a Department of De-

(2) DESIGNATION.—The Regional Center for
3
Security Studies established and administered pur-
4
suant to paragraph (1) shall be known as the ‘‘Ted
5
Stevens Arctic Center for Security Studies’’.
6
(3) LOCATION.—The Regional Center for Secu-
7
rity Studies established and administered pursuant
8
to paragraph (1) shall be located in such location in
9
Alaska as the Secretary considers appropriate.

(b) SIXTH REGIONAL CENTER FOR SECURITY STUD-
11
IES.—Section 184(b)(2) of title 10, United States Code,
12
is amended by adding at the end the following new sub-
13
paragraph:

‘‘(F) The Ted Stevens Arctic Center for Secu-
15
rity Studies, located in Alaska.’’.

(c) ACCEPTANCE OF GIFTS AND DONATIONS.—Sec-
17
tion 2611(a)(2) of such title is amended by adding at the
18
end the following new subparagraph:

‘‘(F) The Ted Stevens Arctic Center for Secu-
20
rity Studies.’’.
