To make certain improvements to child care services provided
by the Secretary of Defense.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Military Child Care
4
Transparency and Expansion Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. IMPROVEMENTS TO CHILD CARE SERVICES PRO-
6
VIDED BY THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE.

(a) EXPANSION OF PILOT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE FI-

NANCIAL ASSISTANCE
TO MEMBERS

THE ARMED

the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Au-

thorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (Public Law 116–
2
283; 10 U.S.C. 1791 note) is amended by striking ‘‘five
3
locations’’ and inserting ‘‘six locations’’.

(b) WAIT TIMES FOR CHILD CARE SERVICES AT
5
MILITARY CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERS.—
6
(1) PUBLICATION.—Not later than 90 days
7
after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Sec-
8
retary of Defense shall publish and maintain on a
9
website of the Department of Defense, accessible by
10
members of the Armed Forces, waiting lists for child
11
care services at military child development centers.
12
(2) ESTIMATES.—On the website described in
13
paragraph (1), the Secretary shall publish a tool
14
that uses data collected by the Secretary to estimate
15
how long a member assigned to serve at a military
16
installation will likely wait before receiving child care
17
services at the military child development center of
18
such installation.
