Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. PREFERENCE FOR HEALTH PROFESSION OPPOR- 1 TUNITY GRANT APPLICANTS WHO HAVE CER- 2 TAIN KINDS OF BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY 3 PARTNERS. 4 Section 2008 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 5 1397g) is amended by redesignating subsections (c) and 6 (d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively, and inserting 7 after subsection (b) the following: 8 ‘‘(c) PREFERENCE FOR GRANT APPLICANTS WHO 9 HAVE CERTAIN PARTNERS.—In considering applications 10 for a grant under this section, the Secretary shall give 11 preference to applications submitted by applicants who 12 have business and community partners in each of the fol- 13 lowing categories: 14 ‘‘(1) State and local government agencies and 15 social service providers; 16 ‘‘(2) institutions of higher education, and local 17 workforce development boards established under sec- 18 tion 107 of the Workforce Innovation and Oppor- 19 tunity Act; and 20 ‘‘(3) health care employers, labor unions, and 21 labor-management partnerships.’’. 22 SEC. 3.
