Mr. DAINES introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred
to the Committee on Indian Affairs
A BILL
To require tribal liaisons to submit to Congress reports on
missing and murdered Indians.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Tribal Reporting and
4
Accountability to Congress Act’’ or the ‘‘TRAC Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. REPORT ON MISSING AND MURDERED INDIANS.
6
Section 13 of the Indian Law Enforcement Reform
7
Act (25 U.S.C. 2810) is amended by adding at the end
8
the following:

‘‘(e) REPORT ON MISSING AND MURDERED INDI-
1
ANS.—Each tribal liaison appointed under this section
2
shall submit to Congress an annual report that includes,
3
with respect to the district—
4
‘‘(1) the number of open missing Indians cases;
5
‘‘(2) the number of open murdered Indians
6
cases;
7
‘‘(3) the number of missing and murdered Indi-
8
ans cases resolved;
9
‘‘(4) the number of missing and murdered Indi-
10
ans cases reported each year;
11
‘‘(5) the number of missing and murdered Indi-
12
ans cold cases;
13
‘‘(6) the number of individuals the Department
14
of Justice has actively working on missing and mur-
15
dered Indians cases;
16
‘‘(7) the number of cases referred to the De-
17
partment of Justice for prosecution from the Bureau
18
of Indian Affairs and Tribal law enforcement agen-
19
cies; and
20
‘‘(8) the number cases declined to be prosecuted
21
by the Department of Justice and the reasons why
22
each case was not prosecuted.’’.
