A BILL
To amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch
Act to include ranching educational activities in the
Farm to School Program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Farm and Ranch to
4
School Act of 2019’’.

SEC. 2. FARM AND RANCH TO SCHOOL PROGRAM.

Section 18(g) of the Richard B. Russell National
7
School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1769(g)) is amended—
8
(1) in the heading, by inserting ‘‘AND RANCH’’
9
after ‘‘FARM’’;

(A) by redesignating clauses (vi) and (vii)

as clauses (vii) and (viii); and

(B) by inserting after clause (v) the fol-

ticipation of school children in ranching,

livestock production, and meat processing

educational activities;’’.

(3) in paragraph (5)—

(A) in subparagraph (A), by inserting

‘‘and meats’’ after ‘‘products’’;

(B) by redesignating subparagraphs (D)
14
through (G) as subparagraphs (E) through (H),

respectively; and
16
(C) by inserting after subparagraph (C)

the following:

‘‘(D) incorporate education activities in
19
curriculum planning that encourage the partici-
20
pation of school children in ranching, livestock
21
production, and meat processing educational ac-
22
tivities;’’; and
23
(4) in paragraph (8), by adding at the end the
24
following:

‘‘(C) RESERVATION.—The Secretary shall

reserve 50 percent of the amounts made avail-

able under subparagraph (A) and paragraph (9)

to carry out the activities described in para-

graph (3)(A)(vi).’’.
