A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize the
Secretary of a military department to retain a reserve
chaplain or reserve officer in a medical specialty beyond
the date that such individual turns 68 years old.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

THE
ARMED

FORCES.

Section 14703(b) of title 10, United States Code, is
6
amendedβ
7
(1) by striking ββAnββ and inserting ββ(1) Subject
8
to paragraph (2), anββ; and
9
(2) by adding at the end the following new
10
paragraph (2):

ββ(2) The Secretary concerned may, with the consent
12
of the officer, retain in an active status an officer de-
13
scribed in subsection (a) beyond the date described in
14
paragraph (1) of this subsection if the Secretary con-
15
cerned determines that such retention is necessary to the
16
military department concerned. Each such retention shall
17
be made on a case-by-case basis and for such period as
18
the Secretary concerned determines appropriate.ββ.
