COPIES OF CONSULAR REPORTS OF DEATH OF U.S. 1 CITIZENS ABROAD TO BE MADE AVAILABLE 2 TO THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL 3 AND PREVENTION. 4 (a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary of State shall make 5 available to the Director of the Centers for Disease Con- 6 trol and Prevention for each calendar quarter a copy of 7 each report described in subsection (b) that is issued dur- 8 ing the preceding calendar quarter. 9 (b) REPORT DESCRIBED.—The report described in 10 this subsection is a report issued by a United States em- 11 bassy or consulate relating to the death of a United States 12 citizen in a foreign country upon receipt by the embassy 13 or consulate of the foreign death certificate or finding of 14 death by a local competent authority. 15 SEC. 3. SURVEILLANCE BY CDC OF DEATHS OF UNITED 16 STATES CITIZENS ABROAD. 17 The Public Health Service Act is amended by insert- 18 ing after section 317T of such Act (42 U.S.C. 247b–22) 19 the following: 20 ‘‘SEC. 317U.
