A BILL
To require a mechanism for the regular evaluation by the
Air Force of justifications for the continuing mainte-
nance of non-operational staff positions in the Air Force
that require pilot expertise.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Supporting Our Pilots
4
Act’’.

SEC. 2. MECHANISM FOR REGULAR EVALUATION BY THE

AIR FORCE OF JUSTIFICATIONS FOR THE

CONTINUING MAINTENANCE OF NON-OPER-
3
ATIONAL
STAFF
POSITIONS
REQUIRING
4
PILOT EXPERTISE.

(a) MECHANISM REQUIRED.—The Secretary of the
6
Air Force shall establish a mechanism for the regular eval-
7
uation by the Air Force of justifications for the continuing
8
maintenance in the Air Force of non-operational staff po-
9
sitions requiring pilot expertise.

(b) REPORT.—Not later than one year after the date
11
of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit
12
to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and
13
the House of Representatives a report on the mechanism
14
established pursuant to subsection (a). The report shall
15
include the following:
16
(1) A description of the mechanism.
17
(2) An assessment of the use and utility of the
18
mechanism through the date of the report.
