A BILL
To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets
Act of 1968 to clarify the definition of firefighter for
the purposes of the Public Safety Officers’ Death Bene-
fits Program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Fire Police Fairness
4
Act’’.

Section 1204(4) of title I of the Omnibus Crime Con-
4
trol and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10284) is
5
amended by inserting ‘‘, including an individual who, in
6
the capacity of the individual as such a member, engages
7
in scene security or traffic management as the primary
8
or only duty of the individual during emergency response’’
9
before the semicolon.
