introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on
Small Business
A BILL
To require the Administrator of the Small Business Adminis-
tration to submit a report on the Office of Rural Affairs.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Study of Office of
4
Rural Affairs, within the Small Business Administration’’.
5
SEC. 2. REPORT ON THE OFFICE OF RURAL AFFAIRS.

Not later than 6 months after the date of the enact-
7
ment of this Act, the Administrator of the Small Business
8
Administration shall submit to Congress a report ana-
9
lyzing the cost and potential benefits of creating a suc-
10

cessor office to the Office of Rural Affairs, in accordance

with the requirements under section 26 of the Small Busi-
2
ness Act (15 U.S.C. 653). Such report shall include—
3
(1) the dates on which the prior Office of Rural
4
Affairs was created and dismantled;
5
(2) the rationale justifying the decision to dis-
6
mantle the Office;
7
(3) a list of the year’s funds that were appro-
8
priated to the Office; and
9
(4) the cost and potential benefits to estab-
10
lishing an Associate Administrator for a successor
11
office to the Office of Rural Affairs.
