vention coordinators of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for
other purposes.

which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs
A BILL
To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to
conduct an assessment of the responsibilities, workload,
and vacancy rates of suicide prevention coordinators of
the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other pur-
poses.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Support for Suicide
4
Prevention Coordinators Act’’.

(a) ASSESSMENT REQUIRED.—
6
(1) IN GENERAL.—The Comptroller General of
7
the United States shall conduct an assessment of the
8
responsibilities, workload, training, and vacancy
9
rates of suicide prevention coordinators of the De-
10
partment of Veterans Affairs.
11
(2) ELEMENTS.—The assessment under para-
12
graph (1) shall include a determination of—
13
(A) the extent to which the use and staff-
14
ing of suicide prevention coordinators varies be-
15
tween facilities of the Department; and
16
(B) the extent to which the Secretary of
17
Veterans Affairs provides oversight of suicide
18
prevention coordinators.

(b) REPORT TO CONGRESS.—Not later than one year
20
after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comp-
21
troller General shall submit to the Committee on Veterans’
22
Affairs of the Senate and the Committee on Veterans’ Af-
23
fairs of the House of Representatives a report containing
24
the findings of the assessment required by subsection (a).
