MURKOWSKI) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and re-
ferred to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs
A BILL
To require plans for military installations for full military
funeral honors for veterans at such installations.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Creig Sharp Funeral
4
Honors for Veterans Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. FULL MILITARY FUNERAL HONORS FOR VETERANS

AT MILITARY INSTALLATIONS.

(a) INSTALLATION

provided pursuant to section 1491 of title 10, United
1
States Code, shall maintain and carry out a plan for the
2
provision, upon request, of full military funeral honors at
3
funerals of veterans for whom a funeral honors detail is
4
authorized in that section.
5
(b) ELEMENTS.—Each plan of an installation under
6
subsection (a) shall include the following:
7
(1) Mechanisms to ensure compliance with the
8
requirements applicable to the composition of fu-
9
neral honors details in section 1491(b) of title 10,
10
United States Code.

(2) Mechanisms to ensure compliance with the
12
requirements for ceremonies for funerals in section
13
1491(c) of such title.
14
(3) In addition to the ceremonies required pur-
15
suant to paragraph (2), the provision of a gun salute
16
for each funeral by appropriate personnel, including
17
personnel of the installation, members of the reserve
18
components of the Armed Forces residing in the vi-
19
cinity of the installation who are ordered to funeral
20
honors duty, and members of veterans organizations
21
or other organizations referred to in section
22
1491(b)(2) of such title.
23
(4) Mechanisms for the provision of support au-
24
thorized by section 1491(d) of such title.

(5) Such other mechanisms and activities as the

Secretary concerned considers appropriate in order
2
to assure that full military funeral honors are pro-
3
vided upon request at funerals of veterans.

(c) DEFINITIONS.—In this section:
5
(1) The term ‘‘Secretary concerned’’ has the
6
meaning given that term in section 101(a)(9) of title
7
10, United States Code.

(2) The term ‘‘veteran’’ has the meaning given
9
that term in section 1491(h) of title 10, United
10
States Code.
