SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Veteran Housing Op- 4 portunities and Unemployment Support Extension Act of 5 2020’’ or the ‘‘Veteran HOUSE Act of 2020’’. 6 SEC. 2. EXPANSION OF ELIGIBILITY FOR HUD–VASH. 7 (a) HUD PROVISIONS.—Section 8(o)(19) of the 8 United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 9 1437f(o)(19)) is amended by adding at the end the fol- 10 lowing new subparagraph: 11 ‘‘(D) VETERAN DEFINED.—In this para- 12 graph, the term ‘veteran’ has the meaning given 13 that term in section 2002(b) of title 38, United 14 States Code.’’. 15 (b) VHA CASE MANAGERS.—Subsection (b) of sec- 16 tion 2003 of title 38, United States Code, is amended by 17 adding at the end the following: ‘‘In the case of vouchers 18 provided under the HUD–VASH program under section 19 8(o)(19) of such Act, for purposes of the preceding sen- 20 tence, the term ‘veteran’ shall have the meaning given 21 such term in section 2002(b) of this title.’’. 22 SEC. 3. ANNUAL REPORTS. 23 (a) IN GENERAL.—Not less frequently than once 24 each year, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall submit 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:44 Jan 14, 2020 Jkt 099200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H2398.RFS H2398 pamtmann on DSKBC07HB2PROD with BILLS 3 HR 2398 RFS to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate and 1 the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the House of Rep- 2 resentatives a report on the homelessness services provided 3 under programs of the Department of Veterans Affairs, 4 including services under HUD–VASH program under sec- 5 tion 8(o)(1) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 6 (42 U.S.C. 1437f(o)(19)). 7 (b) INCLUDED INFORMATION.—Each such annual re- 8 port shall include, with respect to the year preceding the 9 submittal of the report, a statement of the number of eligi- 10 ble individuals who were furnished such homelessness 11 services and the number of individuals furnished such 12 services under each such program, disaggregated by the 13 number of men who received such services and the number 14 of women who received such services, and such other infor- 15 mation as the Secretary considers appropriate. 16 Passed the House of Representatives January 13, 2020.
