A BILL
To resume the operation of the page program for the House
of Representatives.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Promoting American
4
Government Education Act’’ or the ‘‘PAGE Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. RESUMPTION OF OPERATION OF PAGE PROGRAM
6
FOR HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
7
(a) RESUMPTION OF PROGRAM.—Effective beginning
8
with the first semester of the first academic year which
9
begins after the appointment of members of the House

Speaker of the House of Representatives shall provide for
2
the resumption of the operation of the page program for
3
the House of Representatives which was in operation dur-
4
ing the One Hundred Tenth Congress.

(b) APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER OF HOUSE OF REP-
6
RESENTATIVES PAGE BOARD TO REPRESENT INTERESTS
7
OF PAGES.—

(1) IN GENERAL.—Section 2(a) of House Reso-
9
lution 611, Ninety-seventh Congress, agreed to No-
10
vember 30, 1982, as enacted into permanent law by
11
section 127 of Public Law 97–377 (2 U.S.C.
12
4912(a)), is amended—
13
(A) by striking ‘‘and’’ at the end of para-
14
graph (3);
15
(B) by redesignating paragraph (4) as
16
paragraph (5); and
17
(C) by inserting after paragraph (3) the
18
following new paragraph:
19
‘‘(4) one individual who has expertise in rep-
20
resenting the legal interests of minors, such as by
21
serving as a guardian ad litem; and’’.

(2) CONFORMING
AMENDMENT.—Section 2(b)
23
of such Resolution (2 U.S.C. 4912(b)) is amended

(c) PROCESS FOR APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF

PAGE BOARD.—

(1) DEADLINE FOR APPOINTMENT.—Not later
5
than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this
6
Act, the Speaker and the Minority Leader of the
7
House shall appoint members of the House of Rep-
8
resentatives Page Board under section 2 of House
9
Resolution 611, Ninety-seventh Congress, agreed to
10
November 30, 1982, as enacted into permanent law
11
by section 127 of Public Law 97–377 (2 U.S.C.
12
4912).

(2) SPECIAL RULE FOR APPOINTMENT OF MEM-
14
BER
WHO
WAS
PARENT
OF
A
PAGE.—Notwith-
15
standing paragraph (2) of section 2(a) of the House
16
Resolution referred to in paragraph (1) (2 U.S.C.
17
4912(a)), the Speaker and the Minority Leader may
18
appoint as a member of the House of Representa-
19
tives Page Board under such paragraph an indi-
20
vidual who, at any time prior to the individual’s ap-
21
pointment, was a parent of a page participating in
22
the page program of the House of Representatives.
