Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘CHAMPVA Children’s
4
Care Protection Act of 2019’’.

SEC. 2. INCREASE OF MAXIMUM AGE FOR CHILDREN ELIGI-

BLE FOR MEDICAL CARE UNDER CHAMPVA

PROGRAM.

(a) INCREASE.—Subsection (c) of section 1781 of
4
title 38, United States Code, is amended to read as fol-
5
lows:

‘‘(c)(1) Notwithstanding clauses (i) and (iii) of sec-
7
tion 101(4)(A) of this title and except as provided in para-
8
graph (2), for purposes of this section, a child is eligible
9
for benefits under subsection (a) until the child’s 26th
10
birthday, regardless of the child’s marital status.
11
‘‘(2) This subsection shall not be construed to limit
12
eligibility for benefits under subsection (a) of a child de-
13
scribed in section 101(4)(A)(ii) of this title.’’.
14
(b) EFFECTIVE
DATE.—Such subsection, as so
15
amended, shall apply with respect to medical care provided
16
on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
