Mr. WENSTRUP (for himself, Mr. CUNNINGHAM, and Mrs. WALORSKI) intro-
duced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Vet-
erans’ Affairs
A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to clarify the grade
and pay of podiatrists of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. CLARIFICATION OF GRADE AND PAY OF PODIA-
3
TRISTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS
4
AFFAIRS.
5
(a) GRADE.—The list in section 7404(b) of title 38,
6
United States Code, is amended—
7
(1) by striking ‘‘PODIATRIC SURGEON
8
(DPM)’’ and inserting ‘‘PODIATRIST’’; and

‘‘Podiatrist grade.’’.

(b) PAY.—

(1) IN GENERAL.—Section 7431 of such title is
5
amended—

(A) by striking ‘‘physician and dentist’’
7
each place it appears and inserting ‘‘physician,
8
podiatrist, and dentist’’;
9
(B) by striking ‘‘physicians and dentists’’
10
each place it appears and inserting ‘‘physicians,
11
podiatrists, and dentists’’;
12
(C) by striking ‘‘physician or dentist’’ each
13
place it appears and inserting ‘‘physician, podi-
14
atrist, or dentist’’;
15
(D) by striking ‘‘physicians or dentists’’
16
each place it appears and inserting ‘‘physicians,
17
podiatrists, or dentists’’;
18
(E) by striking ‘‘Physician and Dentist’’
19
each place it appears and inserting ‘‘Physician,
20
Podiatrist, and Dentist’’; and
21
(F) in subsection (e)(1)(A), by inserting
22
‘‘podiatrists and’’ before ‘‘dentists.’’.

(2) ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS.—Section 7433

of such title is amended by striking ‘‘physicians and

(3) CONFORMING AMENDMENT.—The heading

of subchapter III of chapter 74 of title 38, United
4
States Code, is amended by inserting ‘‘, PODIA-
5
TRISTS,’’ after ‘‘PHYSICIANS’’.

(4) CLERICAL AMENDMENT.—The table of sec-
7
tions at the beginning of chapter 74 of such title is
8
amended by striking the item relating to the sub-
9
chapter III heading and inserting the following new
10
item:
11
‘‘SUBCHAPTER III—PAY FOR PHYSICIANS, PODIATRISTS, AND DENTISTS’’.
(5) TECHNICAL AMENDMENT.—Section 7433 of
12
such title is further amended—
13
(A) by striking subsection (b);
14
(B) in subsection (a)—
15
(i) by striking ‘‘(1) The Secretary’’
16
and inserting ‘‘The Secretary’’; and
17
(ii) by redesignating paragraph (2) as
18
subsection (b); and
19
(C) in subsection (b), as so redesignated—
20
(i) by striking ‘‘In prescribing’’ and
21
inserting
‘‘RECOMMENDATIONS
AND
22
VIEWS.—In prescribing’’; and
