was read twice and referred to the Committee on Armed Services
A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to provide for the
inclusion of homeschooled students in Junior Reserve
Officer’s Training Corps units.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. INCLUSION OF HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS IN

JUNIOR
RESERVE
OFFICER’S
TRAINING
4
CORPS UNITS.

Section 2031 of title 10, United States Code, is
6
amended by adding at the end the following new sub-
7
section:

‘‘(g)(1) Each public secondary educational institution
9
that maintains a unit under this section shall permit mem-

bership in the unit to homeschooled students residing in
1
the area served by the institution who are qualified for
2
membership in the unit (but for lack of enrollment in the
3
institution).

‘‘(2) A student who is a member of a unit pursuant
5
to this subsection shall count toward the satisfaction by
6
the institution concerned of the requirement in subsection
7
(b)(1) relating to the minimum number of student mem-
8
bers in the unit necessary for the continuing maintenance
9
of the unit.’’.
