Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS FOR 3 ALEJANDRA JUAREZ. 4 (a) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding subsections (a) 5 and (b) of section 201 of the Immigration and Nationality 6 Act, Alejandra Juarez shall be eligible for issuance of an 7 immigrant visa or for adjustment of status to that of an 8 alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence upon fil- 9 ing an application for issuance of an immigrant visa under 10 section 204 of such Act or for adjustment of status to 11 lawful permanent resident. 12 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:13 Jan 16, 2019 Jkt 089200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H581.IH H581 pamtmann on DSKBFK8HB2PROD with BILLS 2 •HR 581 IH (b) ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS.—If Alejandra Juarez 1 enters the United States before the filing deadline speci- 2 fied in subsection (d), she shall be considered to have en- 3 tered and remained lawfully and shall, if otherwise eligible, 4 be eligible for adjustment of status under section 245 of 5 the Immigration and Nationality Act as of the date of the 6 enactment of this Act. 7 (c) WAIVER OF GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL OR DENIAL 8 OF ADMISSION.— 9 (1) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding sections 10 212(a) and 237(a) of the Immigration and Nation- 11 ality Act, Alejandra Juarez may not be removed 12 from the United States, denied admission to the 13 United States, or considered ineligible for lawful per- 14 manent residence in the United States by reason of 15 any ground for removal or denial of admission that 16 is reflected in the records of the Department of 17 Homeland Security or the Visa Office of the Depart- 18 ment of State on the date of the enactment of this 19 Act. 20 (2) RESCISSION OF OUTSTANDING ORDER OF 21 REMOVAL.—The Secretary of Homeland Security 22 shall rescind any outstanding order of removal or de- 23 portation, or any finding of inadmissibility or de- 24 portability, that has been entered against Alejandra 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:13 Jan 16, 2019 Jkt 089200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H581.IH H581 pamtmann on DSKBFK8HB2PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 581 IH Juarez by reason of any ground described in para- 1 graph (1). 2 (d) DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION AND PAYMENT OF 3 FEES.—Subsections (a) and (b) shall apply only if the ap- 4 plication for issuance of an immigrant visa or the applica- 5 tion for adjustment of status is filed with appropriate fees 6 within 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act. 7 (e) REDUCTION OF IMMIGRANT VISA NUMBER.— 8 Upon the granting of an immigrant visa or permanent res- 9 idence to Alejandra Juarez, the Secretary of State shall 10 instruct the proper officer to reduce by 1, during the cur- 11 rent or next following fiscal year, the total number of im- 12 migrant visas that are made available to natives of the 13 country of the alien’s birth under section 203(a) of the 14 Immigration and Nationality Act or, if applicable, the 15 total number of immigrant visas that are made available 16 to natives of the country of the alien’s birth under section 17 202(e) of such Act. 18 (f) DENIAL OF PREFERENTIAL IMMIGRATION TREAT- 19 MENT FOR CERTAIN RELATIVES.—The natural parents, 20 brothers, and sisters of Alejandra Juarez shall not, by vir- 21 tue of such relationship, be accorded any right, privilege, 22 or status under the Immigration and Nationality Act. 23 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:13 Jan 16, 2019 Jkt 089200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H581.IH H581 pamtmann on DSKBFK8HB2PROD with BILLS
