A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Agriculture to release reversionary
and reserved interests in certain lands within the
Coconino National Forest, Arizona.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Lowell Observatory
4
Conveyance Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. DEFINITIONS.
6
In this Act:

(1) OBSERVATORY.—The term ‘‘Observatory’’
8
means Lowell Observatory of Flagstaff, Arizona.

(2) SECRETARY.—The term ‘‘Secretary’’ means

the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the
2
Chief of the Forest Service.

SEC. 3. RELEASE OF REVERSIONARY AND RESERVED IN-
4
TERESTS.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Subject to valid existing rights,
6
if the Observatory makes a written request to the Sec-
7
retary not later than 180 days after the date of enactment
8
of this Act requesting conveyance of the National Forest
9
System land described in subsection (b), the Secretary
10
shall convey, without consideration and by quitclaim deed,
11
to the Observatory all right, title, and interest of the
12
United States in and to the parcel of land described in
13
subsection (b).

(b) LAND SPECIFIED.—The parcel of National For-
15
est System land to be conveyed under subsection (a) is
16
the land—
17
(1) conveyed by the United States to Percival
18
Lowell and his heirs by the Act of May 30, 1910 (36
19
Stat. 452); and
20
(2) described as section 17, Township 21 north
21
of range 7 east of the Gila and Salt River base and
22
meridian in Coconino County, Arizona.
