To adjust the boundaries of the Ocmulgee Mounds National
Historical Park, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. OCMULGEE MOUNDS NATIONAL HISTORICAL
3
PARK BOUNDARY.
4
(a) DEFINITIONS.—In this section:
5
(1) HISTORICAL PARK.—The term ‘‘Historical
6
Park’’ means the Ocmulgee Mounds National His-
7
torical Park in the State of Georgia, as redesignated
8
by subsection(b)(1)(A).

(2) MAP.—The term ‘‘map’’ means the map en-
1
titled ‘‘Ocmulgee National Monument Proposed
2
Boundary Adjustment’’, numbered 363/125996, and
3
dated January 2016.
4
(3) STUDY
AREA.—The term ‘‘study area’’
5
means the Ocmulgee River corridor between the cit-
6
ies of Macon, Georgia, and Hawkinsville, Georgia.
7
(b) OCMULGEE MOUNDS NATIONAL HISTORICAL
8
PARK.—
9
(1) REDESIGNATION.—
10
(A) IN GENERAL.—The Ocmulgee National
11
Monument, established pursuant to the Act of
12
June 14, 1934 (48 Stat. 958, chapter 519),
13
shall
be
known
and
designated
as
the
14
‘‘Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park’’.
15
(B) REFERENCES.—Any reference in a
16
law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other
17
record of the United States to the ‘‘Ocmulgee
18
National Monument’’ shall be deemed to be a
19
reference to the ‘‘Ocmulgee Mounds National
20
Historical Park’’.
21
(2) BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENT.—
22
(A) IN GENERAL.—The boundary of the
23
Historical Park is revised to include approxi-

mately 2,100 acres of land, as generally de-
1
picted on the map.

(B) AVAILABILITY
OF
MAP.—The map
3
shall be on file and available for public inspec-
4
tion in the appropriate offices of the National
5
Park Service.
6
(3) LAND ACQUISITION.—
7
(A) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary may ac-
8
quire land and interests in land within the
9
boundaries of the Historical Park by donation,
10
purchase from a willing seller with donated or
11
appropriated funds, or exchange.
12
(B) LIMITATION.—The Secretary may not
13
acquire by condemnation any land or interest in
14
land within the boundaries of the Historical
15
Park.
16
(4) ADMINISTRATION.—The Secretary shall ad-
17
minister any land acquired under paragraph (3) as
18
part of the Historical Park in accordance with appli-
19
cable laws (including regulations).

SOURCE STUDY.—
22
(1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary shall conduct
23
a special resource study of the study area.

(2) CONTENTS.—In conducting the study under
1
paragraph (1), the Secretary shall—
2
(A) evaluate the national significance of
3
the study area;
4
(B) determine the suitability and feasibility
5
of designating the study area as a unit of the
6
National Park System;
7
(C) consider other alternatives for preser-
8
vation, protection, and interpretation of the
9
study area by the Federal Government, State or
10
local government entities, or private and non-
11
profit organizations;
12
(D) consult with interested Federal agen-
13
cies, State or local governmental entities, pri-
14
vate and nonprofit organizations, or any other
15
interested individuals; and
16
(E) identify cost estimates for any Federal
17
acquisition, development, interpretation, oper-
18
ation, and maintenance associated with the al-
19
ternatives.

(3) APPLICABLE
LAW.—The study required
21
under paragraph (1) shall be conducted in accord-
22
ance with section 100507 of title 54, United States
23
Code.

(4) REPORT.—Not later than 3 years after the
1
date on which funds are first made available to carry
2
out the study under paragraph (1), the Secretary
3
shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources
4
of the House of Representatives and the Committee
5
on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a
6
report that describes—
7
(A) the results of the study; and
8
(B) any conclusions and recommendations
9
of the Secretary.
