A BILL
To authorize additional district court judgeships for the
northern, middle, and southern districts of Florida.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Florida Federal Judi-
4
cial Relief Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. DISTRICT JUDGES FOR THE DISTRICT COURTS.

(a) ADDITIONAL JUDGESHIPS.—The President shall
7
appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Sen-
8
ate—

(1) 6 additional district judges for the middle

district of Florida;
2
(2) 1 additional district judge for the northern
3
district of Florida; and
4
(3) 3 additional district judges for the southern
5
district of Florida.

(b) CONVERSION OF TEMPORARY JUDGESHIPS.—The
7
existing judgeship for the southern district of Florida au-
8
thorized by section 312(c) of the 21st Century Depart-
9
ment of Justice Appropriations Authorization Act (Public
10
Law 107–273; 28 U.S.C. 133 note), as of the date of en-
11
actment of this Act, shall be authorized under section 133
12
of title 28, United States Code, and the incumbent in that
13
office shall hold the office under section 133 of title 28,
14
United States Code, as amended by this Act.

(c) TECHNICAL AND CONFORMING AMENDMENTS.—
16
The table contained in section 133(a) of title 28, United
17
States Code, is amended by striking the items relating to
18
Florida and inserting the following:
