Kissimmee River and its tributaries in the State of Florida for study

A BILL
To amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate
segments of the Kissimmee River and its tributaries in
the State of Florida for study for potential addition
to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, and
for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Kissimmee River Wild
4
and Scenic River Study Act’’.

SEC. 2. DESIGNATION FOR STUDY.

Section 5(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16
2
U.S.C. 1276(a)) is amended by adding at the end the fol-
3
lowing:
4
‘‘(ll) KISSIMMEE RIVER, FLORIDA.—(A) The
5
segment from the southern shore of Lake Kissimmee
6
to its confluence with Lake Okeechobee.’’.

SEC. 3. STUDY AND REPORT.

Section 5(b) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16
9
U.S.C. 1276(b)) is amended by adding at the end the fol-
10
lowing:

‘‘(ll) STUDY AND REPORT.—Not later than
12
3 years after the date of completion of the Kis-
13
simmee River restoration project by the Army Corps
14
of Engineers and the South Florida Water Manage-
15
ment District, the Secretary of the Interior shall
16
complete the study of the Kissimmee River, as de-
17
scribed in subsection (a)(l), and submit a report
18
describing the results of that study to the Com-
19
mittee on Natural Resources of the House of Rep-
20
resentatives and the Committee on Energy and Nat-
21
ural Resources of the Senate.’’.
