A BILL
To amend the consumer product safety laws to repeal the
exclusion of pistols, revolvers, and other firearms from
the definition of consumer product under such laws.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Defective Firearms

Protection Act’’.

(a) DEFINITION OF CONSUMER PRODUCT.—Section
3
3(a)(5) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (15 U.S.C.

2052(a)(5)) is amended by striking subparagraph (E).

(b) RULEMAKING AUTHORITY.—Section 3 of the
6
Consumer Product Safety Commission Improvements Act
7
of 1976 (15 U.S.C. 2079) is amended by striking sub-
8
section (e) and redesignating subsection (f) as subsection
9
(e).
