A BILL
To reduce the number of, and shorten the time between,
pay grade steps for officers and members of the United
States Park Police, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘U.S. Park Police Mod-
4
ernization Act’’.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 501(c)(1) of the District
4
of Columbia Police and Firemen’s Salary Act of 1958 (sec.
5
5–545.01(c)(1), D.C. Official Code) is amended to read
6
as follows:
7
‘‘(1) The annual rates of basic compensation of
8
officers and members of the United States Park Po-
9
lice, serving in classes corresponding or similar to
10
those in the salary schedule in § 5–541.01 shall be
11
fixed in accordance with the following schedule of
12
rates:

rate of pay for level V of the Executive Schedule.

SERVICE
STEP
ADJUSTMENTS.—Section
1
303(a)(5) of the District of Columbia Police and Fire-
2
man’s Salary Act of 1958 (sec. 5–543.03(a)(5), D.C. Offi-
3
cial Code) is amended—
4
(1) in subparagraph (B), by striking ‘‘or 9’’
5
and inserting ‘‘9, 10, or 11’’;
6
(2) in subparagraph (C), by striking ‘‘10’’ and
7
inserting ‘‘12’’; and
8
(3) by striking subparagraph (D).

(c) PRIOR ADJUSTMENTS DISREGARDED.—Any ad-
10
justments to the annual rates of basic compensation of
11
officers or members of the United States Park Police
12
under section 501(c)(2) of the District of Columbia Police
13
and Firemen’s Salary Act of 1958 (sec. 5–545.01(c)(2),
14
D.C. Official Code) on or before January 3, 2021, shall
15
be disregarded.

(d) RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.—This section may not
17
be construed as limiting or reducing any payment under
18
section 501(c)(3) of the District of Columbia Police and
