To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand the membership of the
Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans to include veterans who are
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, gender non-con-
forming, intersex, or queer.

introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the
Committee on Veterans’ Affairs
A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand the mem-
bership of the Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans
to include veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming,
intersex, or queer.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Voices for Veterans
4
Act 2021’’.

(a)
EXPANSION
OF
MEMBERSHIP.—Subsection
7
(a)(2)(A) of section 544 of title 38, United States Code,
8
is amended—
9
(1) in clause (iv), by striking ‘‘and’’ at the end;
10
(2) in clause (v), by striking the period at the
11
end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and
12
(3) by inserting after clause (v) the following
13
new clause:
14
‘‘(vi) veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual,
15
transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming,
16
intersex, or queer.’’.

(b) EFFECTIVE
DATE.—Clause (vi) of section
18
544(a)(2)(A) of title 38, United States Code, shall apply
19
to appointments made on or after the date of the enact-
20
ment of this Act.
