A BILL
To authorize the Secretary of Education to provide grants
for education programs on the history of the treatment
of Italian Americans during World War II.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. GRANTS FOR EDUCATION PROGRAMS ON THE

HISTORY OF THE TREATMENT OF ITALIAN

AMERICANS DURING WORLD WAR II.

(a) AUTHORIZATION OF GRANTS.—
6
(1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary of Education
7
may provide grants for education programs on the

MAXIMUM
GRANT
AMOUNT.—A
grant
3
awarded under this section may not exceed $50,000.
4
(b) USE OF FUNDS.—An eligible entity that receives
5
a grant under this section shall use the grant funds to
6
develop and implement public awareness education pro-
7
grams on the history of the treatment of Italian Ameri-
8
cans during World War II.

(c) APPLICATION.—To be selected to receive a grant
10
under this section, an eligible entity shall submit an appli-
11
cation to the Secretary at such time, in such manner, and
12
containing such information as the Secretary may require.
13
(d) PRIORITY.—In awarding grants under subsection
14
(a), the Secretary shall give priority to Italian-American
15
historical and cultural organizations.
16
(e) ELIGIBLE ENTITY DEFINED.—In this section, the
17
term ‘‘eligible entity’’ means—
18
(1) Italian-American historical and cultural or-
19
ganizations; and
20
(2) such other entities as the Secretary deter-
21
mines appropriate.

(f) AUTHORIZATION
OF
APPROPRIATIONS.—For

grants under this section, there is authorized to be appro-

priated $3,000,000 for fiscal year 2022.
