To authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to increase
the maximum amount of a policy under the Veterans’
Group Life Insurance and Servicemembers’ Group Life
Insurance, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Supporting Families
4
of the Fallen Act’’.

SEC. 2. VETERANS GROUP LIFE INSURANCE, SERVICEMEM-

BER GROUP LIFE INSURANCE.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 1967(a)(3)(A)(i) of title
3
38, United States Code, is amended by striking
4
‘‘$400,000’’ and inserting ‘‘$500,000’’.
5
(b) EFFECTIVE DATE AND DETERMINATION OF THE
6
SECRETARY.—This Act shall take effect on the later of—
7
(1) 60 days after the date of enactment of this
8
Act; or
9
(2) the 1st date on which the Secretary of Vet-
10
erans Affairs determines that—
11
(A) the new maximum amount and the
12
premiums for such amount are administratively
13
and actuarially sound for the insurance pro-
14
gram; and
15
(B) this change will not result in such pro-
16
gram operating at a loss.
