Admission Act, which would grant voting representation in the Congress, as well as democratic control over local affairs, to the residents of the District of Columbia by making Wash- ington, Douglass Commonwealth, the 51st State; and Whereas S. 51, the Washington, D.C. Admission Act, has a record 45 cosponsors in the Senate: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That— 1 (1) District of Columbia residents have earned 2 full and equal representation in the House of Rep- 3 resentatives and Senate and full local self-govern- 4 ment; and 5 (2) on Memorial Day, May 31, 2021, the House 6 of Representatives recognizes that active duty 7 servicemembers, National Guard members, reserv- 8 ists, veterans, and their families who are residents of 9 the District of Columbia deserve passage of the 10 Washington, D.C.
