A BILL
To require notification of a Governor of a State if an unac-
companied alien child is placed for custody and care
in the State.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘UAC State Notifica-
4
tion Act of 2021’’.

SEC. 2. NOTIFICATION OF STATE GOVERNORS.

Section 235 of the William Wilberforce Trafficking
7
Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (8 U.S.C.
8
1232) is amended by adding at the end the following:

‘‘(j) NOTIFICATION TO STATES.—In the case of an

unaccompanied alien child who is in Federal custody by
2
reason of the child’s immigration status, the Secretary of
3
Health and Human Services or the Secretary of Homeland
4
Security shall notify the Governor of a State not later than
5
48 hours prior to the placement of the child in the care
6
of a proposed custodian located in such State.’’.
