SHORT TITLE. 1 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Taiwan International 2 Solidarity Act’’. 3 SEC. 2. CLARIFICATION REGARDING UNITED NATIONS GEN- 4 ERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION 2758 (XXVI). 5 Subsection (a) of section 2 of the Taiwan Allies Inter- 6 national Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) 7 Act of 2019 (Public Law 116–135) (relating to diplomatic 8 relations with Taiwan) is amended by adding at the end 9 the following new paragraphs: 10 ‘‘(10) United Nations General Assembly Reso- 11 lution 2758 (XXVI) established the representatives 12 of the Government of the People’s Republic of China 13 as the only lawful representatives of China to the 14 United Nations. UNITED STATES ADVOCACY FOR INTERNATIONAL 1 ORGANIZATIONS TO RESIST THE PEOPLE’S 2 REPUBLIC OF CHINA’S EFFORTS TO DISTORT 3 THE ‘‘ONE CHINA’’ POSITION. 4 Section 4 of the Taiwan Allies International Protec- 5 tion and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) Act of 2019 6 (relating to the policy of the United States regarding Tai- 7 wan’s participation in international organizations) is 8 amended— 9 (1) in paragraph (2), by striking ‘‘and’’ after 10 the semicolon at the end; 11 (2) in paragraph (3), by striking the period at 12 the end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and 13 (3) by adding at the end the following new 14 paragraph: 15 ‘‘(4) to instruct, as appropriate, representatives 16 of the United States Government in all organizations 17 described in paragraph (1) to use the voice, vote, 18 and influence of the United States to advocate such 19 organizations to resist the People’s Republic of Chi- 20 na’s efforts to distort the decisions, language, poli- 21 cies, or procedures of such organizations regarding 22 Taiwan.’’. 23 VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:54 Jun 02, 2021 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H2646.IH H2646 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 4 •HR 2646 IH SEC. 4. OPPOSING THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA’S 1 EFFORTS TO UNDERMINE TAIWAN’S TIES AND 2 PARTNERSHIPS INTERNATIONALLY. 3 Subsection (a) of section 5 of the Taiwan Allies Inter- 4 national Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) 5 Act of 2019 (relating to strengthening ties with Taiwan) 6 is amended— 7 (1) in paragraph (2), by striking ‘‘and’’ after 8 the semicolon at the end; 9 (2) in paragraph (3), by striking the period at 10 the end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and 11 (3) by adding at the end the following new 12 paragraph: 13 ‘‘(4) encourage, as appropriate, United States 14 allies and partners to oppose the People’s Republic 15 of China’s efforts to undermine Taiwan’s official 16 diplomatic relationships and its partnerships with 17 countries with which it does not maintain diplomatic 18 relations.’’. 19 SEC. 5.
