A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand and extend
Department of Veterans Affairs assistance for homeless
veterans, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Affordable Housing
4
for Homeless Veterans Act of 2021’’.

SEC. 2. EXPANSION AND EXTENSION OF DEPARTMENT OF

VETERANS AFFAIRS ASSISTANCE FOR HOME-

LESS VETERANS.

(a) EXPANSION.—Subsection (a) of section 2041 of
4
title 38, United States Code, is amended—
5
(1) in paragraph (1)—
6
(A) in the matter preceding subparagraph
7
(A), by inserting ‘‘or permanent housing’’ after
8
‘‘shelter’’;
9
(B) in subparagraph (A), by striking
10
‘‘named in, or approved by the Secretary under,
11
section 5902 of this title’’ and inserting ‘‘that
12
is the recipient of a grant under section 2011,
13
2013, 2044, or 2061 of this title’’; and
14
(C) in subparagraph (B), by inserting ‘‘,
15
tribal entity,’’ after ‘‘State’’; and
16
(2) in paragraph (3)(B)—
17
(A) in clause (i), by inserting ‘‘or to sell or
18
rent the property directly to homeless veterans
19
or veterans at-risk of homelessness’’ after ‘‘fam-
20
ilies’’; and
21
(B) in each of clauses (i), (ii), and (iii), by
22
striking the comma and inserting a semicolon.

(b) EXTENSION.—Subsection (c) of such section is

amended by striking ‘‘September 30, 2017’’ and inserting

‘‘September 30, 2025’’.
