Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. EXHIBIT DEPICTING THE ATTACK ON THE CAPITOL. 1 (a) IN GENERAL.—Not later than 2 years after the 2 date of enactment of this Act, the Architect of the Capitol, 3 in consultation with the Joint Committee on the Library, 4 shall carry out a project to design and install in a promi- 5 nent location in the United States Capitol a permanent 6 exhibit that depicts the attack on the Capitol that occurred 7 on January 6, 2021. 8 (b) EXHIBIT REQUIREMENTS.— 9 (1) INCLUSION OF CAPITOL PROPERTY.—The 10 Architect shall, to the extent practicable, preserve 11 property from the United States Capitol or the 12 United States Capitol Grounds (as described in sec- 13 tion 5102 of title 40, United States Code) that was 14 damaged during the attack and include such prop- 15 erty in the exhibit described in subsection (a) as the 16 Architect determines appropriate. 17 (2) PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORDS.—The Architect 18 shall include existing photographic records relating 19 to the attack on the Capitol in the exhibit described 20 in subsection (a). 21 (3) PLAQUE.—The Architect shall include in 22 the exhibit described in subsection (a) a plaque for 23 the purpose of honoring— 24 (A) the United States Capitol Police and 25 other law enforcement agencies that partici- 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 04:52 Apr 30, 2021 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H1627.IH H1627 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 1627 IH pated in protecting the United States Capitol 1 on January 6, 2021; 2 (B) the sacrifice of heroes, including 3 United States Capitol Police Officers Brian 4 Sicknick and Howard Liebengood, Metropolitan 5 Police Department Officer Jeffrey Smith, and 6 those who sustained injuries as a result of pro- 7 tecting the United States Capitol on January 6, 8 2021; and 9 (C) the Capitol staff that helped restore 10 the Capitol Complex after the attack. 11 (4) ARTWORK.—The Architect may include art- 12 work created to depict the attack on the Capitol in 13 the exhibit described in subsection (a). 14 (c) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.—There 15 are authorized to be appropriated such sums as are nec- 16 essary to carry out this Act.
