DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS OBJECTIVES 1 AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES FOR PROVI- 2 SION OF SAME-DAY SERVICES. 3 (a) OBJECTIVES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES.— 4 The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall develop quantifi- 5 able objectives and performance measures designed to as- 6 sess the effects of the provision of same-day services on 7 the access of veterans to medical care and mental health 8 services. 9 (b) CONSULTATION.—In developing the objectives 10 and performance measures under subsection (a), the Sec- 11 retary shall consult with the Secretary of Health and 12 Human Services, the Secretary of Defense, veterans serv- 13 ice organizations, and other appropriate Department and 14 non-Department stakeholders. 15 (c) REPORT TO CONGRESS.—Not later than one year 16 after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary 17 shall submit to the Committees on Veterans’ Affairs of 18 the Senate and House of Representatives a report that 19 includes— 20 (1) the objectives and performance measures 21 developed under subsection (a); and 22 (2) recommendations and best practices for the 23 implementation of same-day services throughout the 24 Veterans Health Administration and the reduction 25 of veteran suicide rates. 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 02:26 Mar 21, 2021 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H1292.IH H1292 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 1292 IH (d) PERIODIC ASSESSMENTS.—Not later than the 1 last day of each fiscal year, the Secretary shall conduct 2 an assessment of each medical center and community- 3 based outpatient clinic of the Department.
