INSTALLATION OF FENCE AROUND PERIMETER OF 1 UNITED STATES CAPITOL. 2 (a) INSTALLATION.—The Architect of the Capitol 3 shall carry out a project to design and install an appro- 4 priate fence around the perimeter of the United States 5 Capitol, including the East Front and the West Front. 6 (b) FACTORS CONSIDERED.—In carrying out the 7 project under this section, the Architect of the Capitol 8 shall take into consideration the need to protect the secu- 9 rity of the United States Capitol and the safety of the 10 individuals who work and visit the Capitol, to preserve the 11 ability of individuals to visit the Capitol, and to preserve 12 the design of the Capitol and Capitol Grounds, and shall 13 consider specifically the so-called ‘‘Gateway Project’’ to 14 protect the Capitol which was proposed by Terrance 15 Gainer, the former Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of 16 the Senate and Chief of the Capitol Police. 17 (c) DEADLINE.—The Architect of the Capitol shall 18 complete the project under this section not later than Jan- 19 uary 1, 2023. 20 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:57 Feb 10, 2021 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H339.IH H339 pamtmann on DSKBC07HB2PROD with BILLS
