Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Gun Violence Reduc- 4 tion Resources Act of 2021’’. 5 SEC. 2. FINDINGS. 6 The Congress finds as follows: 7 (1) On average, more than 100,000 people in 8 the United States are shot in murders, assaults, and 9 other crimes and more than 32,000 people die from 10 VerDate Sep 11 2014 18:08 Jan 27, 2021 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H121.IH H121 pamtmann on DSKBC07HB2PROD with BILLS 2 •HR 121 IH gun violence annually, including 2,677 children 1 under 18 years of age. 2 (2) Many of these crimes were committed by 3 people who never should have been able to purchase 4 a gun. 5 (3) Each year hundreds of law enforcement of- 6 ficers lose their lives to gun violence, having been 7 shot to death while protecting their communities. 8 (4) Millions of guns are sold every year in ‘‘no 9 questions asked’’ transactions and experts estimate 10 that 40 percent of guns now sold in the United 11 States are sold without a background check of the 12 purchaser. 13 SEC. 3.
