EXPLANATION – Matter in bolded italics is new; matter between brackets [omitted material] is material to be omitted.
AN ACT relating to grants; requiring a member of the Grants
Management Advisory Committee to abstain from voting
on matters related to an entity with which the member is
affiliated; and providing other matters properly relating
thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Existing law creates the Grants Management Advisory Committee within the
1
Department of Human Services. (NRS 232.383) Existing law requires the Advisory
2
Committee to: (1) review requests received by the Department for awards of
3
money; and (2) submit recommendations to the Director of the Department
4
concerning each request for an award that the Advisory Committee believes should
5
be granted. (NRS 232.385) Also, existing law prohibits an entity from receiving a
6
grant if the entity employs a member of the Advisory Committee. (NRS 232.383)
7
Section 1 of this bill eliminates this prohibition. Further, section 1 requires a
8
member of the Advisory Committee who is affiliated with an entity that is related
9
to a matter before the Advisory Committee to disclose his or her affiliation to the
10
Advisory Committee and abstain from voting or otherwise participating in the
11
matter.
