A BILL
To limit the flags that may be flown over a facility of
the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. LIMITATION OF FLAGS THAT MAY BE FLOWN
3
OVER A FACILITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
4
VETERANS AFFAIRS.

(a) LIMITATION.—The only flags that may be flown
6
over a facility of the Department of Veterans Affairs are
7
the following:

(1) The flag of the United States.

(2) The flag of a State.

(3) The flag of an Indian Tribal government.

(4) The flag of the Department.

(5) The flag of an Armed Force.

(6) The POW/MIA flag.

(b) DEFINITIONS.—In this section:
7
(1) The term ‘‘State’’ means each of the several
8
States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the
9
Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the
10
Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

(2) The term ‘‘Indian Tribal government’’
12
means the governing body of any Indian or Alaska
13
Native Tribe, band, nation, pueblo, village, or com-
14
munity that the Secretary of the Interior acknowl-
15
edges to exist as an Indian Tribe under the Feder-
16
ally Recognized Indian Tribe List Act of 1994 (25
17
U.S.C. 5130 et seq.).
