SHORT TITLE. 1 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Mudslide Recovery 2 Act’’. 3 SEC. 2. MUDSLIDE RECOVERY GRANT PROGRAM. 4 (a) IN GENERAL.—Not later than 180 days after the 5 date of enactment of this Act, the Secretaries concerned 6 shall jointly establish a pilot grant program to make 7 grants on a competitive basis to eligible recipients to im- 8 plement innovative solutions to repair the damage caused 9 by mudslides that occur after a wildland fire. 10 (b) APPLICATIONS.—To be eligible for a grant under 11 this section, an eligible recipient shall submit to the Secre- 12 taries concerned an application at such time, in such man- 13 ner, and containing such information as the Secretaries 14 concerned jointly determine is appropriate. 15 (c) DEFINITIONS.—In this Act: 16 (1) ELIGIBLE RECIPIENT.—The term ‘‘eligible 17 recipient’’ means— 18 (A) a State, an Indian Tribe, or a forestry 19 agency of a State or Indian Tribe; 20 (B) a local government; 21 (C) a fire department; and 22 (D) a non-profit organization, including a 23 homeowner association that assists communities 24 located in an area with a risk of wildland fires. 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:37 May 25, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H3275.IH H3275 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB 3 •HR 3275 IH (2) SECRETARIES CONCERNED.—The term 1 ‘‘Secretaries concerned’’ means the Secretary of the 2 Interior and the Secretary of Homeland Security, 3 acting through the Administrator of the Federal 4 Emergency Management Agency. 5 (3) STATE.—The term ‘‘State’’ means any 6 State of the United States, the District of Columbia, 7 the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any other 8 territory or possession of the United States. 9 (d) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.—There is 10 authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section 11 $5,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 through 2030. 12 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:37 May 25, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H3275.IH H3275 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB
