tration from issuing a rule or regulation requiring certain vehicles to
be equipped with speed limiting devices, and for other purposes.

was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
A BILL
To prohibit the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier
Safety Administration from issuing a rule or regulation
requiring certain vehicles to be equipped with speed lim-
iting devices, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Deregulating Restric-
4
tions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen-wheelers Act’’
5
or the ‘‘DRIVE Act’’.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Ad-
3
ministrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Adminis-
4
tration may not issue any rule or regulation to require
5
vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000
6
pounds operating in interstate commerce to be equipped
7
with a speed limiting device set to a maximum speed.
